Caroline Thompson is a successful screenwriter, film director, and producer who wrote the screenplay
for The Nightmare Before Christmas. She wrote the screenplay for the first draft for the movie, made in August of 1991. At the time, she had also been Danny Elfman's girlfriend. According to director Henry Selick, she did a "fabulous job of stitching the songs together and making it work".
Caroline is also known for pushing Tim Burton to include Sally within the movie's story and strengthened her character, stressing that "While Jack's dilemma gives Nightmare Before Christmas its plot, Sally gives it its heart."
