The Giant Snake was a Christmas gift delivered by Jack Skellington posing as Santa.

The Pumpkin King
The snake is holding Dr. Finkelstein hostage. At first, Jack thinks it's the Doctor's pet, but when the Doctor tells him otherwise, Jack must fight the snake in order to free the Doctor.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
When Jack was getting everyone ready for Christmas, the snake is being used as a stocking. However, while the Corpse Dad is stuffing it with skulls, the snake swallows him. The snake later spits him up off-screen. Later, after Jack places the snake in a house, it eats presents and the Christmas tree, much to a kid's horror, until presumably, Santa makes it cough out the tree and gifts as well.
Haunted Mansion Holiday
During the Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland, this snake can be seen in the Attic scene, having already eaten some presents. Jack's Naughty and Nice list is hanging out of its mouth, and stretches throughout the room. The snake makes a hissing noise as you pass by.
Trivia
- Kul Katura the Serpent Lord from MediEvil bears a strong resemblance to the Giant Snake. Only he has horns and fold-like "ears".
