The doors that lead to other towns.

Simply called Holiday Woods, the Hinterlands refer to the wooded area outside Halloween Town where Jack Skellington finds the Holiday Doors leading to Christmas Town, and the other Holiday Worlds. In the movie this area isn't directly named. However, in the game The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge and Kingdom Hearts II this area is named the Hinterlands.

There are 7 different doors, each one leads to another holiday-themed town.

Right to left:

  • Thanksgiving Town
  • Independence Day Town

A hinterland by definition means:

  • The land directly adjacent to and inland from a coast.
  • A region remote from urban areas; backcountry.
  • A region situated beyond metropolitan centers of culture.
