The Hinterlands refer to the wooded area outside Halloween Town where Jack Skellington finds the Holiday Doors leading to Christmas Town, and the rest of the Holiday Worlds. In the movie this area isn't directly named. However, in the game The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogies Revenge this area is named the Hinterlands.
