The "Long Live the Pumpkin Queen" is a YA sequel novel, written by Shea Ernshaw, that was released on August 2nd, 2022. It takes place shortly after the events of the movie and in Sally's point of view.

According to the author in a Q&A, the novel is the "yet-to-be-told" love story of Sally and Jack, as well as a "coming-of-age" story, as Sally explores her new title as the Pumpkin Queen of Halloween Town. A new cast of "grim, strange" characters are introduced in the book. They are from the ancient, long hidden realm called Dream Town.

Summary[]

According to an article, the premise of the book is stated:

"The novel sees a happily married Sally and Jack get their lives momentarily turned upside down when Sally accidentally lets loose a mysterious villain in Halloween Town. With Jack and the entire holiday world itself in peril, Sally goes on a quest to the other holiday worlds—including one previously unexplored—as the Pumpkin Queen, uncovering secrets about how to save the world and wrestle with new discoveries about her past life."

The official summary given on the preorder pages:

"Jack and Sally are "truly meant to be" ... or are they?

Sally Skellington is the official, newly-minted Pumpkin Queen after a whirlwind courtship with her true love, Jack, who Sally adores with every inch of her fabric seams -- if only she could say the same for her new role as Queen of Halloween Town. Cast into the spotlight and tasked with all sorts of queenly duties, Sally can't help but wonder if all she's done is trade her captivity under Dr. Finkelstein for a different -- albeit gilded -- cage. But when Sally and Zero accidentally uncover a long-hidden doorway to an ancient realm called Dream Town in the forest Hinterlands, she'll unknowingly set into motion a chain of sinister events that put her future as Pumpkin Queen, and the future of Halloween Town itself, into jeopardy. Can Sally discover what it means to be true to herself and save the town she's learned to call home, or will her future turn into her worst... well, nightmare?"
