The Nightmare Before Christmas Wiki

The Sandman is the main antagonist of the Long Live the Pumpkin Queen novel. He was once the King of Dream Town, but was overthrown and banished into the woods by the citizens.

He is pale and shadowy, as well as tall and spindly. He has a long, white beard that falls below his waist. He has wisps of white hair sticking wildly from his head. He wears a layered, soft whitish-gray garment folded around his frame. He has the appearance of an old wise man. He has unkempt eyebrows and bags under his eyes.

Abilities[]

The Sandman can hover over the ground by a good foot or two. He can also bring anyone to sleep using Dream Town's dream sand, where he can steal their dreams. He also lulls and lures his victims by humming soothing lullabies.

Personality[]

He was once the King of Dream Town, but an unkind ruler. He was the stealer of dreams, slipping into the Human World and putting children to sleep so he could take their dreams. Children rarely had dreams as a result, since he would steal them as soon as they drift off to sleep. He was cruel and greedy, forcing the increased production of dream sand, as he stole millions of dreams every night. His citizens would work night and day and double shifts, barely sleeping to keep up with his demand.

His treatment of his people lasted for centuries until a group of citizens, including Albert and Greta, talked in secret while he was away in the Human World. While he was stealing dreams one night, the citizens stopped working and closed the Dream Sand Factory. They worked together to build a tall stone fortress around the entirety of Dream Town. They closed the gates and effectively locked the Sandman out, banishing him to the woods outside of town.

Long Live the Pumpkin Queen[]

When Sally uncovers the long-forgotten doorway to Dream Town and accidentally leaves it open, he's unleashed into the Human World and Holiday Realms.
