Full body of The Stairs Man

"I am the one hiding under your stairs, fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair!"

- This is Halloween (song)

This creature is a character from The Nightmare Before Christmas. He is a citizen of Halloween Town. Unlike The One Hiding Under Your Bed, The Stairs Monster makes more than one appearance in the movie. He has banded kraits as his fingers, four on each hand, and a single spider on his head. He has a small forked tongue, tiny teeth, and the area around his mouth is colored pink. Unlike most Halloween Town characters, he has no feet. Instead, his body slims down on two legs.

In his first scene in the movie, his spider hair is strewn about on his face, but for the rest of the movie, it is neatly combed.

Film Role

The creature first appears in the song, "This is Halloween". The creature was later seen in the scene where the citizens are in the town meeting. The creature starts to whistle at Destroyed Halloween Town when the crowd and Jack are cheering in "A Bali Myna's Battle!" in the episode.

Trivia

  • The monster who hides under the stairs bears a striking resemblence to the Sandworm from Tim Burton's Beetlejuice, as well as Claws Ward from Monsters, Inc.
